MY WEEK | 1 - This Wild Home

So I’ve decided to start doing these updated on Sundays. As much as like sharing things I learn and doing big, informative posts, I also wanted to find sometime to connect and lighten it up a bit. Share some of the little moments in our week and reconnect with my little community.

  • Something we’ve started doing to start the week is story time at the library. Since we move so much and we don’t really have a community that we’re part of, Oliver has become rather shy. I can see that he is so interested in other kids and wants to participate with them, but he’s never done an activity with other kids consistently enough to feel very comfortable in participating. So we did story time for the first time this past Monday and it was so good for him! He was a bit hesitant at first, but he started to open up towards the end and actually stand sort of near some of the other kids.

It’s a little scary stepping back and letting him be part of the world. Honestly, I think it took us so long to get to this point because I am very shy and I was afraid of putting myself in a new place and situation. But I’m already looking forward to getting him back next week to see if he can jump in and really have some fun with other kids. It was very rewarding putting us both in this new experience where we grow together.

  • We also got the boys room completely done in the airstream! I’ve never had a space that is all my own to decorate so I wasn’t really sure how it would go. I wasn’t sure if this design passion of mine would actually pay off or if I’d fall short when given full creative control of a space, but I think it definitely came together nicely.

  • Otherwise, I think the biggest thing that happened recently is that I finally decided to go all in on this blogging passion of mine. I’ve been dipping my toe in the blogging pool for YEARS now. Honestly, I’ve been afraid to really start and try, but I keep coming back to it so I figured it’s officially time to see what I can do with it.

This does mean I’m going to have a few more affiliate links and possibly ads someday, but I am very adamant about making sure this space stays authentic. I don’t want anyone who reads my words to ever feel like they aren’t coming from me. I don’t want my thoughts to be mandated by brands I work with. So, though I may have links that you can follow to help support my blogging passion, I will never put anything on here that could ruin the integrity of my true motivation for all of this: sharing my experiences to help others to feel camaraderie in life. To share the hard lessons I learn and the things that help me along the way in order to help others.

Anyway, here are some interesting things I found this week:

(may contain affiliate links, all opinions are my own!)

  1. This home tour is one of the more inspirational ones I’ve seen recently.

  2. This playlist is putting me in such a mood.

  3. I don’t know if you’ve seen this journal in my photos, but it’s beautiful.

  4. I am definitely wanting to try this nail polish (the color “nectar” was recommended by Almost Makes Perfect along with this one that’s more budget friendly)

  5. I made this pie and it’s DELICIOUS!

  6. I’m reading this book which is very relatable and inspiring.

  7. This article on the science behind children’s behavior is very eye opening (plus there’s a book recommendation).
